Watch Maintenance

All watches should be cleaned and serviced every two to five years to ensure that they are trouble-free. Even quartz watches should be cleaned as any small particle can result in damage. At time of this regular maintenance, batteries and seals should also be replaced.( Batteries normally last only two or three years.) For water-resistant watches, to carry out a water-resistance test every year is strongly recommended. This is a simple procedure that takes only a few minutes.

Regular maintenance normally includes the following items:

Dismantling of watch and control of all components

Cleaning and replacement of basic movement parts as necessary

Oiling and adjustment

Polishing the case

General quality control

Rust is the enemy of all watches. So we should pay attention to following items in the operation process.

Any watch should be rinsed under fresh water after exposure to saltwater.

Don’t unnecessarily subject your water-resistant watch to pressure or heat.

Remove your watch for hot showers, baths, saunas and hot tubs.

Immediately get your watch serviced if there is moisture inside the crystal.

For automatic watches, to wind your watch at least once every week or two is a good idea. This helps to keep the oil fluid and the wheels moving.

It’s good practice to wind your watch at the same time every day for mechanical replica watches. This is very good for the mechanism.
